SOS Children's Villages is one of the largest providers of child and youth care, a donation organisation and independent of political parties. This gives us security, but also many opportunities!
This position shall report to the National Director and works closely with the National Programs Director, National Safeguarding Coordinator, and other National Office Department Heads. The position shall provide overall leadership for the location in both managerial and programme aspects, playing a key role in influencing quality and effectiveness of programmes. This role harmonizes the programmes at the location (alternative care, family strengthening programmes, youth and education, fundraising, and advocacy) in order to achieve the highest level of quality in service delivery. The job incumbent shall lead and supervise co-workers of the various areas of work within the programs location.
This position directly supports the strategic goals of the National Association and is a strong member of the National Association Management team. Owing to the strategic nature of the support this position the position holder shall be expected to be a person of integrity, reliable and confidential in his/her approach.
The Community Empowerment Officer is responsible for supporting community-based partners to provide required support to families for the care and protection of children and young people. This position shall work closely with community-based partners in creating a responsive and conducive environment for the care and protection of children and young people. This specialist programme officer will work with government and CSO partners to strengthen the functional and financial sustainability of community-based partners in responding to the welfare of vulnerable families, children and young people. The programme officer assumes the roles of facilitating and capacity building in the empowerment of the community-based partners. The incumbent is expected to closely collaborate with government, CSOs, business corporate partners, local community structures, local authorities and other service providers to enable children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care to grow within a caring and supportive family environment and secure community.
The purpose of the position is to build meaningful and sustainable partnerships with corporations (including corporate foundations) on both a national and local level, together with the responsibility of growing the income stream from grant-making bodies and institutional donors. This includes ensuring activities and fundraising initiatives are aligned to the MA’s goals.
The Livelihood and Youth Development Officer is responsible for providing technical expertise and work closely with community-based partners, economic empowerment groups, young people and caregivers in the area of livelihoods (also referred to as economic empowerment). He/she will work closely with other actors in developing sustainable livelihoods at individual, family and community levels. The Livelihood and Youth Development Officer is expected to facilitate the development of anticipatory, absorptive, adaptive and transformative capacities of caregivers, young people and communities for resilient livelihoods against shocks and stresses. The incumbent will additionally manage the youth development interventions at the program location, both at AC and FS services.

This includes ensuring activities and fundraising initiatives are aligned to the MA’s goals. Responsible for collecting and managing sponsorship-related data, creating engaging content, and maintaining strong relationships with children, young people, and caregivers.
The National Alternative Care and Child and Youth Safeguarding Coordinator provides strategic, technical, and operational leadership in the development and implementation of alternative care Programmes and child and youth safeguarding systems and mechanisms across SOS Children’s Villages Namibia. This role ensures that all interventions align with national legislation such as the Child Care and Protection Act of 2015 and internal SOS Children’s Villages standards and policies such as child and youth safeguarding policy, while promoting the protection, development, and rights of children and young people.
