SOS Children’s Villages Namibia is dedicated to child care and development. Our goal is to create inclusive societies where the most vulnerable and marginalized children can thrive. Across 3 programs in 3 regions in Namibia, we provide children with a nurturing family environment.
Children require stable, supportive, and caring relationships to reach their full potential. When their rights are upheld, they can succeed in life. At SOS Children’s Villages, we adhere to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which emphasizes the importance of a caring and protective family for a child’s development. We also follow the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children, which stress the significance of a child’s family and the need for suitable alternative care.
Through our unique SOS family care model, we offer a family-like setting for children lacking adequate parental care. By working with SOS families, we continually gain experience and enhance our care expertise. We use this knowledge to prevent the breakdown of vulnerable families through family strengthening and to engage in other locally relevant forms of alternative care.
