The COVID-19 pandemic that has affected the globe during our last two years of operation has starkly highlighted the deficiencies not only in our country, but also in our organisation, especially from a crisis preparedness and fundraising perspective. It is with this in mind that we actively tackled these issues during this year, and have made strides towards protecting our organisation, programmes and children from future crises.
The 2020 financial year was a difficult, unexpected time for us all. Covid-19 began to rear its enormous head. It caused tremendous fear and had a major global impact on health and economic sectors. Millions died. We lost friends and family.
Historic gains have been made for the world’s children in the past 30 years. In 2019, the SOS Federation marked the 10th anniversary of the Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children; and the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
